Marvellous Minds through Movement

Holiday Camps for Children with Dyspraxia

Target: POSTURE

May 30th-June 3rd

9-12am or 2-5pm

Weak postural muscles leads to a lot of fidgeting, inability to sit up straight for long periods, slouched posture, contributes to difficulty copying from the board, poor sporting ability.

POSTURE is the foundational class. Postural muscles are endurance muscles. They need to learn to hold low loads for extended periods of time. Their function differs from the muscles which provide the high load explosive forces for speed. We provide 15 hours of targetted therapy to improve the length, strength and endurance of postural muscles.

  • Specific Targetted Therapy

Dyspraxia is a processing issue, which requires graded exercises so the child can follow the steps required to achieve each movement. Complex movements are broken down and slowly built up so that children with dyspraxia can gradually achieve skilled movement.

    Integrated Function

Therapeutic exercises trains both the brain and the body and is designed for children to improve their core strength. Additionally, these exercises will help children with dyspraxia to integrate sensory information and increase the accuracy of their motor function.

    Early Intervention Play

Children are naturally observant and know when they are less able than the rest of their peers in school. Children are also social creatures and they like to play with other children. Here, Children with dyspraxia play and learn together, so they know they are not alone. In watching each other improve they will know that all things are possible with practice. Encouraging each other can also improve their social skills.

    Group Therapy

Individual therapy can be expensive. Because our aim is to reach as many children as possible, we use group therapy to lower the cost so that more children can access more frequent and more intensive therapy to get maximum benefit. Early childhood is a time of explosive brain growth and it is the best time to build foundational habits and maximise the gains of therapy.

Individual therapy costs up to $300 per hour.

3 hours for 5 days = 15 hours of therapy

  • Dealing with Dyspraxia can be isolating for children. Children with dyspraxia don't naturally enjoy being active due to the amount of work their brains have to do to process incoming information. They are also more likely to escape into social media.

Holiday camps are an excellent time to get a therapy boost to improve your child's body skills. A stronger, more confident body, improved posture and better handwriting will help your child enjoy and do better in school.
